General Objectives:

The Master's Degree in Industrial Management and Engineering aims to offer its students advanced and multidisciplinary training, designed with the purpose of providing them with a professional profile which will enable them to analyze, plan, improve and implement business processes inherent to industrial engineering and management. It aims to train professionals in the skills required for the rationalization, management and optimization of resources, as well as the continuous improvement of efficiency and organisational performance, at a level of utilization of the most recent and technologically advanced industrial methods/techniques/equipment within a complex and dynamic context. The Master¿s Degree thus aims to provide a wider knowledge of engineering and industrial management technologies and methods and basically focuses on business planning and management, entrepreneurship and innovation, management of human resources, production and operation management, ergonomics and the study of work, logistics and the integration of the supply chain, quality management, safety at work, maintenance and management of infrastructures and advanced quantitative methods providing support for the decision-making process and the optimization of operations.

Learning Objectives:

The acquisition of knowledge of the best professional and social practices and an integrated business perspective; the acquisition of skills which will allow for the optimization of processes and operations, production management and organization, the management of logistics and the supply chain, maintenance and the management of infrastructures, the management of quality, environment and safety, ergonomics and the study of work, human factors, entrepreneurship and innovation, strategic management and marketing, as well as economic management and investment analysis.

At the end of the training period, students should reveal a technical capacity and accuracy in the application of methodologies, methods, instruments and norms. They should also show a sense of ethical, professional, social and environmental responsibility, as well as that of a general consciousness. Additionally, they should demonstrate a capacity for leadership, decision-making and initiative, the adoption of assertive attitudes, flexibility and adaptability. Students should be able to work efficiently and effectively in multidisciplinary and multicultural teams. They should further be able to embark on new projects and innovate, whether they are self-employed or working as employees, and reveal a capacity for research and self-study.

  • Due to the interdisciplinary features of their training, holders of the Master¿s Degree in Industrial Management and Engineering are able to undertake a wide range of activities. These may be carried out at industrial companies, or in the field of services, of a large, medium or small dimension and in different sectors. There are various career prospects to be found; the types of professional activities usually undertaken are, amongst others, as follows:
